Build a pvc hive stand. With 12" cross pieces. There's more like 16 - 2" pieces, vers 12 of them. Although 1-3/4" would have worked because the sockets are about 7/8" deep.
According to the drawing, the front and rear cross pieces are different lengths. 11" and 12"

Hmm, so sorry that was wrong. I'll correct the information. You are of course right and I'm not clear how that was posted incorrectly for all this time without someone taking the time like you did to jot me off a note.
I mostly cut the shims ad-hoc while I do it and don't use instructions any more so without some guidance I would not have known.
