RESPIRATORS (Half Mask)

The 3M model listed above, 3M 6503QL/49493, is suitable for Oxalic Acid Vaporization treatments. There is a second option in the 3M Reusable Respirator Half Facepiece 7503 (LINK). The masks differ in their application.
– The first one is meant for construction spaces, where rugged durable masks are used.
– The second one uses silicone for the material and is suitable for extended wear in cleaner or controlled environments (vs. construction, grinding, welding, etc.)

CARTRIDGES

The cartridges noted above, and in this episode, are rated for Organic Acids and Acid Gases. They are not specifically listed for Oxalic Acid. They are compatible to be paired with a N95 filter which filters out particulates.

They are not considered the right cartridge for Oxalic Acid as they are not rated for Oxalic.

3M recommends a different model cartridge – the 3M P100 Respirator Cartridge/Filter 60923. This cartridge is suitable for both Organic Acids and Acid Gases, as well as particulates.

The P100 component is superior at filtering particulates, and the 60923 cartridge will work for both Oxalic Acid Vaporizations and applications that involve Formic Acid
